[ˈsəːvIs] Present ٠ Perfect ٠ Continuous

Marleine Chedraoui staged her exhibition [ˈsəːvɪs] Present ٠ Perfect ٠ Continuous as a presentation in two rooms. The objects on display, such as the museum benches, the speaker’s desk, the microphone, the loudspeaker, and the pedestal, all originate from the utilities stock of the institution hosting the exhibition, IKOB – Museum of Contemporary Art, Eupen, Belgium. On said pedestal, Chedraoui placed a common plunger, attaching an object label to it. At certain moments, scheduled throughout the time span the show was presented, a museum director would step behind the speaker’s desk and read a text captioned as “Die Eröffnung” (The Opening), a collage developed by Chedraoui from a collection of text she gathered from the internet.

At the opening on 29 May Dr. Andreas Beitin, director of the Ludwig Forum Aachen, read at 7 p.m., the text collage “Die Eröffnung” (The Opening).
