Relics Of The Unrealised
Die Erhebung, 2021-2022 (2018)

Round section of a tree trunk

Diameter circa 38 cm

The exhibition with the title Die Erhebung was conceived in 2018. It was to take place during a football World Cup. Participants would be able to relocate all the original furnishings of the rooms in which they usually watch the World Cup broadcasts to the exhibition space during the duration of the exhibition. The participants decide for themselves whether and how they are to be used during this time, for example, whether they are to be shown as an environment with a barrier or whether they are to be accessible to visitors and whether they are to be used only by themselves or also by visitors to watch the broadcast of the football event. Another component of the exhibition was to be a public viewing, which would take place in the same building  – but not in the exhibition space of Die Erhebung. Prominent guests from professional soccer would be invited to the public viewings, with whom the head(s) of the exhibition space would hold a discussion about the game, the exhibition and the public viewing .... before and after the game and during the break. In addition, autograph sessions with the prominent guests would be offered in the museum and autographs raffled off.

The work that came about as a result of the unrealised concept bears the title Relics Of The Unrealised Die Erhebung. It is a round section of a tree trunk onto which a dictionary entry on the term "Erhebung" was applied.
